SPOTLIGHT: GENUINE BROASTER CHICKEN

To begin with 'Broaster' means the concept of frying in deep pressure, which means less oil used than in traditional frying process and thus healthy snacks for your tummy. Now this is a unique technique, isn't it? Next time your mother stops you from eating outside introduce her to the concept of broaster/broasting and you bet she will fall in love with it too. It doesn't take a genius to identify or guess that 'Genuine Broaster Chicken' is an authentic American food enterprise as their logo itself declares 'American Soul, Indian Heart'. And given the sentimental nature of us Indians, we are already melting inside.

The restaurant meets the all the pre-requisites of being a hangout and foodie hot spot as it is comfortably located at the centre of Zoo Tiniali Mother Teresa Road, a commercial hub. The look of the restaurant matters a lot for the young generation and it scores a perfect 10 out of 10 in that department. Doodles depicting chicken jokes, portraits of American Icons like Marilyn Monroe, cool helmets, designs of the American flag on the chairs, sand bags and fancy lights gives a very quasi American feel. However it's the little traditional Indian twists to the menu (Sanskari Aloo, yes you heard that right!) that perfectly balances the Indo-American vibe.

Now coming to the most important aspect - the food. And you will be glad to know that it lives up to the hype. I instantly fell in love with the 'Happy Fried Chicken with Curry Mango Dip'. It not only tastes good but also looks good and the Mango dip deserves a special shout-out. Next I decided to try out the much recommended 'Lamb Rogan Josh' burger and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life- food wise. The red buns holding the gravy lamb meat in between and accompanied with French fries and red tangy sauce was a total paisa wasool. Coming to the desert I decided to go for the 'Gulkand Muffin' and oh man it was so warm, soft and just the right amount of sweet that it almost tasted like perfection in my mouth.

As an aam-admi I (and my stomach) could only afford to eat this much on my first visit to 'Genuine Broaster Chicken' but as they say there is always a next time (undoubtedly many more next times in my case). The staff is amiable and the service doesn't test your patience. Most importantly the prices are very pocket/wallet friendly. All in all it was a rewarding experience and definitely a must visit with friends, dear ones and family.

With Love
